Overview

10 families in a unique litigation action against the European Union !

The People’s Climate Case isa litigation action initiated by ten families from Europe and around the world – Portugal, Germany, France, Italy, Romania, Kenya, Fiji Islands – as well as from Sáminuorra, a Saami Youth Association. Their houses, livelihoods, traditional family occupation and culture are affected and endangered by climate change.

This is a unique litigation action against the EU institutions (European Parliament and European Council). The EU has insufficient climate goals for 2030. Such inaction is endangering the families’ fundamental rights to life, health, work and property. The plaintiffs demand that efficient measures be taken to fight climate change. Today, European legislation is unsuitable to keep global warming under 1,5°C, as recommended by the IPCC.

Their interest in taking legal action is based on disastrous threats on their houses, livelihood, traditional family occupation and culture. Notre Affaire à Tous is proud to see citizens’ determination to participate in the fight against climate change and actively supports Maurice Feschet, French plaintiff of the People’s Climate Case!
